STUC Annual Congress 2026
Three of our committee members as part of the Prospect delegation took part in the STUC Congress held in Dundee 20th - 22nd April. The Scottish Trades Union Congress represents over 550 000 members from 40 affiliated unions and 22 trade councils. The current president is Prospect's Richard Hardy.
During the 3-day long conference we spoke in support of motions calling for the STUC General Council to continue the work to highlight issues Freelancers face in Scotland and make the Scottish Government introduce fair working practices, another one calling support to local journalism - cuts to which threaten the livelihood of Bectu members - and an emergency motion calling for Public Cultural Infrastructure like Trongate 103 to be protected.
The next conference The Scottish Freelance Branch will be taking part in, is the Prospect Union Conference in Brighton in June.

2026 AGM was held in Edinburgh
The Scottish Freelance Branch held it's Annual General Meeting on the 21st Feb at The Glasshouse Hotel in Edinburgh. The new Committee was elected and Scotland Negotiations Officer Paul McManus updated members on industry matters.
